"Forty second," Kara replied. She picked up her glass from off of the table and took a sip. The water was nice and cool just the way she liked it. The way most people liked it, come to think of it. Kara hadn't met anyone who liked it warm. She was sure those people existed somewhere. Kara put it back down on the table while thinking of something else to talk about. "Read any good books lately?"

“Not lately, no. I don't have much time for reading anymore, but I do want to get my hands on the Full House Stephanie books. Don't judge!”
It was true, Tori was a Full House fan. She watched the show as a kid and continued to watch them even now as an adult, and apart from a few cringeworthy moments she still found it enjoyable. Tori was excited for the reboot to come out soon, if not just to be able to see Jodie Sweetin on TV again.

Kara's eyes lit up when Tori mentioned Full House. "I love that show! I used to watch it all the time as a kid. I didn't know there were books." Finally, the two had a solid topic to discuss to break the ice. Maybe now this date wouldn't be so awkward.

Tori couldn't remember the last time she met someone with actual taste in television. Lily really knew how to set two people up.
“Me neither. I found out about them online while looking up a bunch of stuff on Stephanie, and now I want to read them all. Did you know they're coming out with a new show next year? It's going to be on Netflix.”

"But who's going to be in it? They're all so old now." Not that she wasn't excited. She would still tune in when she had time to stream it. Netflix was great for stuff like that. Kara was able to catch up with a bunch of shows she didn't have time for before because of it.

“It's going to focus around an adult DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy taking care of DJ's children. The rest of the cast sans the Olsen Twins are returning for an one hour reunion episode to kick things off.”
Tori unfolded the silverware from the napkin and started to play with them. Just a fork and knife. They didn't even bother serving spoons anymore. What did they have against spoons? Spoons are awesome!

Kara frowned. "That sounds like the same plot from the original show." Once the novelty wore off Kara didn't see how the show would last with such a similar premise if they didn't do anything original with it. Maybe she'd be proven wrong and it would work out great. You never knew. "I'm guessing your favorite character is Stephanie?"

“Guilty as charged!”
The waiter came back with their order. Putting the plate with a large cheeseburger and fries in front of Tori while the shrimp was laid down in front of Kara.
“Enjoy your meal.”
The waiter departed, and Tori looked over the rather large knife that they always handed out for burgers for some reason and put it down with the other silverware, opening the bun and taking out the lettuce and tomato to eat separately. Waiting for it to set before taking her first bite.
“Mmm! This is so good!”

"Thank you," replied Kara to the waiter. Kara gobbled up the first shrimp into her mouth not thinking about removing the tail as it never bothered her anyway. She noticed that Tori was removing stuff from her hamburger. "Why didn't you order it without lettuce and tomatoes if you weren't going to eat them?"

“Because I like to eat them, just not on my burger.”
Tori raised an eyebrow when she saw Kara devour the shrimp tail and all.
“You know you're not supposed to eat the tail, right?”

Tori made Kara realize her mistake and the area around her cheeks turned a light shade of red and became warm. "Oh - Well - It never bothered me." That was technically the truth. It never bothered her. Nothing ever bothered her. Kara didn't even know what pain or discomfort was until the night the zombies attacked. "So... Read any good books lately?" Kara repeated, starting to buckle beneath the awkwardness created.

“You are just SO cute when you're flustered!”
Tori reached over the table and pinched Kara's cheek. Leaning back in her seat soon after and taking another bite out of her cheeseburger. Chewing it up and swallowing before opening her mouth to speak again:
“You asked that already. Allow me – what other shows do you watch besides Full House?”

Kara didn't feel the pinch, but she was embarrassed all the same. She went back to eating her shrimp until Tori changed the topic of conversation to at least get their minds off the awkwardness. "I don't watch much TV anymore. Every now and again I watch old Star Trek reruns on TV, but not much beyond that."

“Which Star Trek series?”
Tori grabbed one of the fries on her plate and ran it through the ketchup. Lifting it up to her mouth and taking a bite feeling the warmth of the ketchup improve the taste of the fries.
“Your answer will define our entire relationship,” she teased.

"The Original Series. It's just so cheesy. I don't know how anyone was able to take it seriously back then." Then again, it was the sixties. What looked cheesy by today's standard was probably outstanding back then. Funny to think about how much perception has changed through the years.
