Tori stared at Kara in silence for a moment while chewing her food. Once she swallowed the piece of hamburger meat in her mouth she parted her lips once more:
“Acceptable.”
Tori picked up the nearby glass of water and took a sip.
“I remember watching some bits of The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine when I was a kid, but I wasn't formally introduced to it until Star Trek Voyager. From there The Next Generation became my favorite. Especially when it came to the Borg.”
Tori set the glass of water down and went back to the food.
“The Original Series is pretty good, too. I have seasons one and two back at my place.”

Tori was making Kara nervous until she opened her mouth again and calmed Kara's nerves. "Whew! Okay. For a second there I thought I failed some kind of test." Kara listened to Tori's story about Star Trek while continuing to eat her meal. Nodding and smiling as they spoke. "I'm familiar with Captain Picard I just haven't watched a lot of Star Trek outside of T.O.S."

“I recommend you watch The Next Generation after you're finished with Captain Kirk. The first two seasons are kind of meh, but it gets loads better once you reach Season Three.”
The funny thing was the first two seasons was more like TOS than any of the other seasons. Just goes to show that what works in the sixties doesn't work as well two decades later. Losing their creator was probably the best thing to ever happen to Star Trek.

"What's wrong with the first two seasons?" Kara was relaxing more and more with each passing second. She didn't expect that of all the things to talk about Full House and Star Trek would make it onto the list. She thought they'd talk about more date related things. Come to think of it, what was considered more date related things? It seemed silly in hindsight.

“They're just not as good as the rest of the series. It's hard to describe. You'd have to see them for yourself.”
Tori didn't know how to describe it. With the exception of a few episodes, the first two seasons were just poor all around, but man do things pick up in Season Three and there's no other direction but up from there.
“Season Two is worth it for “The Measure of a Man,” and the introduction of the Borg, but apart from that you can skip them completely and wouldn't be missing much.”

"I see. I'll have to keep it in mind." Kara's attention went out to the dance floor. There were a lot of people out there dancing and letting it all hang out. It made Kara's eyes widen a little at how loose everyone was. She went back to her food, playing with it absentmindedly before finally putting it in her mouth.

Tori finished her food because she was just a little pig and noticed Kara staring at the dance floor.
“You want to dance?”

Kara broke out of her current trance and looked up from her plate at Tori. "What? Me? Dance? N-no. I don't dance. I have two left feet and would just bump into people and embarrass us both. So no. No dancing. I was just browsing."

“Okay...”
Tori leaned back in her seat and made herself comfortable. She wanted to dance, but wasn't going to force someone else to do it with her if they weren't comfortable with it. Tori pulled out her wallet and recounted how much money she had left over.
“Were we splitting the bill?”

"Huh? Oh, yeah. We can do that if you want. Were you wanting to leave?" Kara had a feeling she was boring the woman. Not wanting to dance probably only made things worse. Stupid Kara. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid Kara!

“No. I was just wondering how we were going to pay the bill. I'm having a nice time, Kara.”
Tori hoped that relaxed the girl a bit. She was so high strung. If Lily was here she'd tried to get Kara drunk so she could relax more, or just tell her to get laid. Considering they were both friends with her Tori had a feeling she already did both things.
“Split it is.”
Tori took out her bank card and laid it on the table for the waiter.

Kara smiled, although it felt like Tori was only saying that to be nice than anything else, but it was nevertheless appreciated. "I'm having a good time, too." She took the last bite out of her shrimp and washed it down with a glass of water before looking back out onto the dance floor. "So, you like to dance?"

“I like to shake mah booty. But don't feel like you have to dance on my account. I want you to be comfortable, too.”
The waiter came back and took the bank card Tori left out for him and went back to the front to pay it off.
“You sure did gobble down that shrimp fast. I like a lady who can devour her food.”
