The city's streets were peaceful on this night. Almost as if there weren't a bunch of bloody undead zombies that attacked it the other day. As usual the city did a good job of cleaning up after itself. She wasn't sure what that magician, the pyro, or Superwoman was up to right this minute, and for the time being she would have to try not to think about it. Gaia had another alien woman to worry about.
Gaia flew up to the highest building in the Kansas City's skyline and landed on the roof, stepping off the platform and looking out to the city below. No matter how many times she flew up here the view was just as breathtaking as it was before. Flying around Kansas was something she'd never get tired of.
“Okay. No one can hear us up here. What'd you want to talk about?”

Saturn kept her arms firmly around Gaia's waist to keep from falling off the platform. Violet eyes looked down to the city below. The Soldier of Silence was familiar with buildings, but she's never seen structures quite like these. They were much more advanced, and some of them stretched out for eons compared to the structures back on the moon. Even she herself only had the one castle rotating around the planet she was devoted to.
The Soldier of Silence stepped off the platform after Gaia and allowed the woman her moment of peace before she would ask her questions. Sailor Saturn went over the questions she wanted to ask in her mind, deciding which one was more important to ask first. Once Gaia was ready to answer the Soldier broke her silence, "What can you tell me about this world?"

That was a good question, actually. Gaia lived here her entire life, and yet she had to stop and think about how to provide a summary for the planet. It's not something she ever thought about because she lived here for so long and most people knew what the world was and what it entailed without ever having to think about it.
“It has a great deal of beauty and just as much despair. I can't really say much else unless you give me specifics.”
Thinking back on it now, Gaia felt silly for needing a moment to think about it. The planet itself was no different from any one place on it. Beauty on one side, and the disgusting on the other, and nobody liked to talk about the ugly side.

Vague. It was starting to seem apparent the people on this planet understood it no better than she. Or perhaps her question wasn't detailed enough to get a good answer? Saturn wasn't sure which scenario was more accurate Just that she needed to think of something more relevant to her mission without giving too much away to a total stranger. Guardian of the planet or not.
"Have you heard the story of a beautiful kingdom that resides on the moon?"
That should bring Saturn closer to what she truly needed to know. If the earthling knew nothing about it, then chances were there was nothing waiting for her on the moon. Whatever reason she was awakened couldn't have anything to do with a civilization that was already gone.

“A kingdom on the moon? That moon?”
Gaia pointed up to the crescent moon in the sky. The idea of any life there was farfetched to her until she remembered that one day in science class when they went over the Moon Landing and she remembered the reports about Neil Armstrong finding what looked like remains of a lost civilization that hinted at life on the moon. It was deemed humanity's greatest discovery after the crowning achievement that was walking on the moon. Etching Armstrong's legacy forever into the history books.
“I heard of ruins. That's it. I'm not sure if they ever figured out what used to be there. Why'd you ask?”

"Ruins?"
Shock made up the Soldier of Silence's expression before giving away into sorrow. It was as she feared. The era of the Silver Millennium was gone. But how? Why? What could have caused such wide-scale destruction and why was she not awakened sooner? Why was she awakened at all?
"I used to be a part of that kingdom. While stationed on Titan, I was one of eight guardians who swore fealty to Queen Serenity. I was on my way to the moon until I was knocked off course and landed here. Now I see I would've found nothing had I reached my destination."

“Oh wow.”
Gaia couldn't believe it. Sailor Saturn was one of the people said to be from this ancient civilization that lived in their solar system. The girl didn't look any older than twelve, and yet she was much, much older than Gaia if the tales were to be believed. This all must have been so frightening for her.
“I'm sorry. Do you think there's a chance anyone else survived? I mean, you're here.”

"I don't know. That's why I want to explore your world to see if any of them made it here somehow, but I don't even know where to begin."
Surely, she would sense them if they got close, so detection wasn't the problem as much as narrowing down the field. Earth was a big place to look for so many different people, even in its heyday it has always been a big place. That's not even getting into how small the earth was compared to the rest of the solar system, and then the galaxy. Her friends could be anywhere by now.

“Maybe you should let them come to you,” Gaia suggested. “We have a lot of crime here, and just recently a magician with control over the elements summoned a bunch of zombies on our asses. You look like you have a lot of power there, so you can be a big help, and it's likely your friends will recognize you. What do you think?”

Saturn raised an eyebrow at Gaia's suggestion.
"You want me to become a guardian of this world?"
It wasn't her planet to protect. Her mission was the security of the Moon Kingdom and the royal family. Namely the queen and her daughter, Princess Serenity, and yet, what Gaia posed wasn't the worse idea she's ever heard. Making appearances fighting evil here might spread news fast enough to lure in any survivors of the Silver Millennium and then they could figure out what to do next.
"I accept, but don't misunderstand my intentions. As soon as I'm reunited with my people we'll be departing. The safety of this land has never been my mission."

“I don't remember saying anything that even hints at misunderstanding you, but while we're on the subject what is your mission exactly?”
She was obviously lost and thought an ancient civilization was still around. There's no telling how far back the Silver Millennium even went and Gaia found it strange how someone can guard a royal family that lives thousands of lightyears away from where Titan was. It left some pretty big questions hanging in the air.
“Better yet, what were you doing all this time? It's hard to miss the destruction of an entire kingdom. Especially one you're sworn to protect. Don't tell me you were sleeping on the job.”

Gaia didn't know it, but she was more or less correct. Not by choice, mind you. It was the command of her Queen to be put to rest until she was needed due to the overall strength she carried. Saturn wondered why the Queen didn't awaken her sooner. Maybe she could have stopped whatever force reduced them to ruin. If only.
"My mission is none of your concern."
Saturn might have trusted Gaia a little more than the pair she met in the forest, but that didn't mean she had to give her entire mission statement. The business of the moon was none of the Earth's.

“It is if you're going to be running around my planet looking for your teammates,” Gaia retorted.
Gaia didn't like to pry in other people's business, but this was one of those rare exceptions where she kind of had to. This woman introduced herself as the Solider of “Death and Rebirth.” That was kind of an alarming title for someone who claimed to be a guardian to have. Especially when they're running around a place that has plenty of death already.
“Listen, you're going to need help blending in around here if you want to get anywhere, and I can help you with that, but helping you requires me to let you in on some of my secrets, and if I'm going to do that you're gonna have to share some of yours.”

"Blend in?"
Saturn raised an eyebrow at that. It didn't make a lick of sense with everything Gaia was saying beforehand.
"First you want me to stand out to attract attention, and now you want me to blend in?"
The Soldier of Silence didn't think she needed the girl's help in either field. It's not like she just ran around in the fuku all the time. She knew how to dress casually and be one with her environment, but she would hear her out all the same.

“I want you to do both.”
Gaia felt weird being the one to instruct another. Usually she was one being taught. Whether it was from a parent, teacher, or her friends, she was always the student learning. It was actually kind of nice to be the one guiding another for a change. Tori could see now why Laura loved teaching so much.
“Superheroes have secret identities so they can lead normal lives when they're not saving the world. In your case the secret identity would be to lay low in-between jobs or whatever you want to call them. Yeah, you could probably do that on your own, but how much do you know about this planet? Judging by your earlier ignorance on the year and the country's government, I'm going to say not much.”
