A young girl of no more than 12 years of age had set up shop along main street. She looked silly just standing there holding her mic but then she took in a breath before speaking loudly, "Step right up! Yes, come and see the show!" A small group of people formed around her, curious about what she was going to do. She pointed at the small box at her feet, "Inside this box is a treasure of many fortunes!" She picked up the box and opened it up for the crowd to see, "As you can see this box contains many things made of gold and jewels! I will make every last gold coin disappear before your eyes!"
The mic she had been using turned into a staff of similar design, she waved it over the open box moving her lips as if speaking and incantation. Suddenly the box of jewels was gone, every gold coin had vanished before their eyes. They applauded the young girl, she bowed her head as they filled the now empty box with money for the performance. When they'd all left she looked in her box to see the measly $6 in odd change, one day she'd be better at her illusions then she would make more money for each of her "shows". She sighed.

Kitty was walking down the streets of Kansas City to get more of a feel for the place while Logan finished work on their house in the forest. Her mind revisited the strange happenings of dealing with that girl scout before Gaia showed up. Apparently, she was a famous superheroine from here. The first real life superhero ever. That was nice. After all the comic books based themselves around men, the first real superhero was a woman.
Kitty was taken out of her thoughts when a woman on the street announced herself. Unbeknownst to her the figure of the woman was an illusion and the actual performer was only twelve years old. Intrigued, Kitty joined the crowd and watched as she made all the jewels in the open box disappear, joining in on the applauds and sticking around after everyone else left.
"That was pretty good. I'd give you money if I had any."

Watching the little girl perform Edward Nygma crossed his arms. The man known as The Riddler had been trying to think up new ideas. Seeing the child ability had perked the mans interest. Watching in the crowd he would be unrecognizable to those who knew The Riddler except for his cane.
Clapping with the crowd he walked up to her along with someone else he didn't recognize. "I agree. That was a great performance." Smiling warmly he produced some money. Placing a five in her box he slipped a clear coin with a purple question mark into the change. "Your outfit is adorable."

"It's alright," she said as she counted the money in her box, "There are some times that no one pays me at all."
She looked at the man before her, "Um, thank you. You're very generous Sir." She didn't know what to think of the man, he seemed off. The young girl closed the box and went to put it in her bag.

"I can see that. Generosity is hard to come by."
Those who had the money weren't generous, and those who were didn't have the money. Such was life. This whole ordeal made Kitty wonder if she could disguise her power as a magic trick. Walking on air would be easy enough to dismiss as hanging on strings to the cynic who didn't believe in magic, but she wasn't sure how to play off the walking through walls part. Kitty only spared a glance at the man. He seemed friendly enough even if his smile was kind of off-putting.
"Where did you learn to do this?"

Tipping his hat at the girl he kept his smile up. "Oh I'm a fan of local talent. I'm a performer myself. Though my act is a bit different than yours." He looked at the other woman as she voiced her question. He looked at the little girl and nodded. "I'm intrigued as well."

The girl got nervous and scratched the back of her head, "oh you know, natural talent." She finished packing her things. The way these two looked at her, she didn't like it. Her father had a similar look to his face when he first discovered her talents. She pointed her thumb over her shoulder towards an unknown location down the street, "You know I haven't had a thing to eat since I got off the bus, I should really be going now."

Personal experience told Kitty that the girl didn't like the prodding and felt guilty that she had been the one to do it after all the time she hated people prying in on her life.
"I get it. Magician's code. It was silly of us to think you'd break it."
Food sounded like a good idea right about now, but she didn't have any money and the last thing she wanted to do was impose on the girl. Before she could say her goodbyes, her stomach went off with a loud rumble and her face grew warm right across her cheeks.
"I think that's my cue to leave."
With any luck Logan might have caught something back in the forest.
