Tori still wasn't sure about this blind date idea. Lily had set it up and assured her that she would enjoy the woman's company. Blind dates were unpredictable and usually short by nature. Not that Tori wanted a long date, or anything. Never knew when you had to cut a date short anyway due to crime breaking out.
Tori finally settled on a casual green dress with short sleeves and a knee-high skirt. Her hair tied up behind the back of her neck and emerald green gem stones pieced to her ears. In case you couldn't figure it out by now she was partial to the color green. A red rose rested above her right breast so she could be recognized easily by her date.
The decided meeting place was the Razor's Edge. A popular club among many different age groups for many different reasons. They had a little something of everything at the Razor's Edge. Tori picked out a table for two a fair distance away from the dance floor and the music and started looking over the menu as she waited.

Kara had been a nervous wreck all morning and it only got worse the closer it became time for the blind date. She even called over a couple of friends to help her pick out an outfit as she was out of ideas. They helped her settle on a nice blue sweater, and black skirt that stops a little above the knee, and black high heels. When in doubt go with blue. As was the norm for her disguise, Kara's hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she had a pair of black glasses framing her face.
The woman wandered for a good couple of seconds in the Razor's Edge before her eyes noticed the bright red rose on a green dress and her lips curved into a smile while she approached the table Tori was sitting at. Extending her hand in greeting. "Hi. You must be Tori, Lily told me so much about you. I'm Kara. Can I sit here?" She pointed at the seat opposite of Tori and then laughed nervously when she realized how stupid that question was. "Of course I can, I'm your date. Silly me." Hiding a blush, Kara pulled out her seat and sat down, scooting up closer to the table. "Y-you're very pretty."

Tori was playing with the salt and pepper shaker when she noticed a cute looking blond wandering around the club. The redhead especially liked the way she had her hair done and the glasses. She wondered if she was half as nerdy as she looked. Seemed that question would be answered before the night was over because that cute girl was coming this way.
“Yes. That is me. Starts with a T and everything,” she joked.
Tori stood up and shook Kara's hand before sitting back down again. Smiling at the compliment from the blond.
“Thank you. Green's my color, and I'm guessing blue is yours? You look very pretty yourself – love the glasses.”

Kara laughed. This time a bit more genuinely. Lily did say Tori had a good sense of humor. That should help break the ice if anything. A grin drew on Kara's face when Tori complimented the glasses. "Oh, these old things? I had them forever." Kara began to look through the menu to get an idea of what they served. It wouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who knew her that she didn't come here all that often. Partying wasn't really her thing. She'd much rather stay home with a good book, but today was an exception. "So um, Lily tells me you're a journalist?"

Tori didn't need to look over the menu. She already knew what she wanted. She's been here so many times that all she had to do was say “the usual” and they'd know exactly what to bring her. A nice juicy hamburger with cheese, no onions. The stuff of legend.
“Game Journalist. I game, I write, thought I'd combine those two things and see what happens. Turned out good so far.”
The waiter came over and asked the two if they wanted anything to drink. Tori replied, “Water,” and then resumed her conversation with Kara after he took both their drinking orders. “What's it like working at the Daily Planet?”

Kara also ordered a glass of water and smiled at Tori when they got the same drink. So far that was two things they had in common. "It's great! Everyone is really friendly and passionate about their jobs, which is a good thing to be given our field. My associate Lois Lane especially. She's determined to get an inside story with Gaia, or Superwoman. I heard rumors that Superwoman may even conduct an interview with Lois Lane." It was the least she could do after everything the Planet's done for her.

'An one on one interview with Lois Lane,' thought Tori, 'I'm tempted. I'm very tempted.'
Tori only ever seen Lois on the occasional photo here and there, but what she did see was hot. Wait, she was on a date with somebody else. She shouldn't be thinking of other women. That was rude.
“Well, you tell your partner to keep her chin up and I'm sure one day she'll get that exclusive with Gaia. She always struck me as a hard person to say no to.”

"She is. She really is." Kara couldn't help but notice Tori didn't react to the Superwoman news. That was disappointing, people always had something nice to say about Superwoman. It was a good boost to brighten up her spirits. But she wouldn't press the issue if Tori didn't want to discuss it. Crime fighting was its own reward and she didn't need to be recognized for it. Which is what she kept telling herself over and over.
"What kind of games do you write about?"

“I primarily do reviews; mostly console games, but I dabble in PC and handheld games every so often. I just got finished with Phoenix Wright last week, and I'm working on Final Fantasy V for this week. Do you game?”
Tori surprised herself with her ability to sneak in game time with all the other stuff going on in her life. Mainly the flying around the city playing the role of superhero. You'd think something like that would significantly cut down on the amount of time one had to play video games, but here we are.

Kara shook her head. "Sorry. No. I was raised on a farm and didn't really grow up with them." Even to this day it wasn't something she was interested in. She didn't hate it or look down on anyone that played video games. They looked like things that would be fun and it was great Tori made a career out of her passion. They just weren't for her.

“Ooh, you lived on a farm. Where at? Did you get to ride a horse?”
Just then the waiter returned to their table with their drinks.
“Are you girls ready to order?”
“I'll have the usual.”
“Okay...”
The man scribbled down Tori's order and looked at Kara.
“And you, ma'am?”

"Smallville Kansas, and lots of time. Not as much as I had to clean the stables..." Kara looked through the menu one more time when asked what she wanted. "I'll have the shrimp. Thank you." Kara returned the menu and the waiter left to forward their order to the chef. "How about you? Where are you from?"

“Kansas City, born and raised. The front yard where's I spent most of my days.”
Fresh Prince was a good show. Shame Will Smith hasn't been in too many good projects lately.
“I lived here my whole life. Recently moved into my own apartment not all that long ago and am enjoying the sweet, sweet freedom and independence. I get to set my own bedtime now. Not that I had a bedtime when I was home – just – never mind.”

The reference flew straight over Kara's head but she laughed at the bedtime joke. It was nice to know she wasn't the only one here feeling awkward about the whole thing. Lily wasn't lying when she said Tori was a laugh riot. She could get used to this kind of entertainment. "I know what you mean. It's great being on your own. What apartment do you live in?"

“The ones on fifty-first street. You?”
Tori didn't care whether or not Kara got her references. She made a lot of references all of the time that people didn't get. Though it was awesome when somebody did get the reference, but some other time, Tori. Some other time.
